Phase one was supposed to be re-leveling the existing and original pavers, however after lifting parts of the patio up underneath was a pile of rubble with voids everywhere. It was over 20 years old so the soil holding the rubble together had been washed away over the years. Unfortunately the entire patio had to be dug up, large pieces of rubble had to be crushed down and compacted, then a layer of MOT type 1 was compacted over that. A new centre section was put together and bedded on a thick mortar so the table and chairs could sit on top.
